As you can see in the image above, the ranking for this round depended directly on how close your claimed planets were to the center.

By the time the round was over, the planets in the center would be the ones that would give the top positions, so these were highly prized and people wanted to fight for them as much as possible.

To reach the center players appeared in the border of the universe, an initial distance of 300k that need to be traveled jumping from planets to other planets, as long as the time passed, the universe size increased and new players joining the game appeared in the border of the moment they joined, having the players that joined the round early an advantage in time and distance.

But if you were lucky enough you could have found a big planet with x2 range and if you upgraded it and used a Photoid Cannon you could have traveled an insane amount of distance in only one shot, an example of that is the winner of the round dropswap_gg (they are the winners of the last round now renamed like orden_gg formerly ghst_gg that built a new product around DF called dropswap that we will talk about it lately) that found a L7 in the Dead Space with x2 Range at 267.492 of distance to the center and made a shot that reached directly to the center.

Artifact Data

To give an example to understand how rare is to find an artifact of high rarity here is bit of data about the artifacts from the round 3.

There are 28 Mythic artifacts that came out from the round 3 (30 were discovered but 2 of them got destroyed cause people used it for the game) the types of that 28 Mythic artifacts are the next ones:

Black Domain: 1
Bloom Filter: 4 (+ 1 destroyed)
Colossus: 5
Monolith: 5
Photoid Cannon: 4 (+1 destroyed)
Planetary Shield: 2
Pyramid: 3
Spaceship: 3
Wormhole: 1

There are 339 Legendary Artifacts that came out from the round 3 (355 were discovered but 26 of them got destroyed cause people used it for the game) the types of that 339 Legendary Artifacts are the next ones:

Black Domain: 19 (+2 destroyed)
Bloom Filter: 17 (+8 destroyed)
Colossus: 57
Monolith: 55
Photoid Cannon: 29 (+13 destroyed)
Planetary Shield: 24 (+3 destroyed)
Pyramid: 60
Spaceship: 54
Wormhole: 24

There are 3840 Epic Artifacts that came out from the round 3 (4385 were discovered but 545 of them got destroyed cause people used it for the game) the types of that 3840 Epic Artifacts are the next ones:

Black Domain: 235 (+19 destroyed)
Bloom Filter: 119 (+ 127 destroyed ) (lol)
Colossus: 629
Monolith: 717
Photoid Cannon: 314 (+356 destroyed) (lol x2)
Planetary Shield: 210 (+ 43 destroyed)
Pyramid: 664
Spaceship: 690
Wormhole: 262

Since subgraph has problems with big chunks of data, there is no way to see the data of Rare & Common artifacts from there because they’re a lot (+6k each), if you think maybe you know a way to gather this data, DM me on twitter or discord and we can try to find out how to gather it :)

[UPDATE] It’s possible to pass the gap of 6k objects in the subgraph queries with “id_gt:” thanks to @Jacob Rosenthal for the advice and modukon for “helping with” (doing all) the functions, here are the Rare and Common artifacts data

There are 21.822 Rare Artifacts that came out from the round 3 (24.042 were discovered but 2220 of them got destroyed cause people used it for the game) the types of that 21.822 Rare Artifacts are the next ones:

Black Domain: 1283 (+103 destroyed)
Bloom Filter: 1026 (+387 destroyed)
Colossus: 3745
Monolith: 3633
Photoid Cannon: 2110 (+1628 destroyed)
Planetary Shield: 1301 (+102 destroyed)
Pyramid: 3608
Spaceship: 3713
Wormhole: 1403

There are 16.022 Common Artifacts that came out from the round 3(16.708 were discovered but 686 of them got destroyed cause people used it for the game) the types of that 16.022 Common Artifacts are the next ones:

Black Domain: 977 (+8 destroyed)
Bloom Filter: 914 (+41 destroyed)
Colossus: 2572
Monolith: 2591
Photoid Cannon: 2003 (+619 destroyed)
Planetary Shield: 962 (+18 destroyed)
Pyramid: 2438
Spaceship: 2599
Wormhole: 966

This are the odds of getting each type of artifact from a foundry:

Photoid Cannon ->15.61% (40/256)
Monolith -> 15.23% (39/256)
Colossus -> 15.23% (39/256)
Spaceship -> 15.23% (39/256)
Pyramid -> 15.23% (39/256)
Wormhole -> 5.85% (15/256)
Planetary Shield -> 5.85% (15/256)
Bloom Filter -> 5.85% (15/256)
Black Domain -> 5.85% (15/256)
^(256/256)

Artifact Markets

This round we had some releases from different teams of new Artifacts Markets through smart contracts, let’s make a brief summary of each one in order of release:

DarkSea Market

DarkSea Market in-game Plugin

DarkSea Market is a P2P artifact market developed and maintained by @snowtigersoft, it was announced by @marrowdao, a guild rooted in the chinese community.

It is designed to be used as a plugin inside the game for now and with the desire of add new features in the future.

If you want to give it a look or search more info about it, you can check their github: https://github.com/snowtigersoft/darksea-market.

Dropswap.gg

dropswap.gg web page

Dropswap.gg is a liquidity pool built by @orden_gg where you can sell your artifacts by the price they assign to each rarity.

It has his own web page and they’re working in continue developing and improving it with new features.

If you want to give it a look or search more info about it, you can check their twitter account @dropswap_gg or go directly to their web page https://dropswap.gg/.

Darkforest.market

Darkforest.market in-game Plugin

Darkforest.market is another P2P artifact market developed by @scotato, @cha0sg0d11 and DF player nolinker and it was announced by the guild @d_fdao.

It is designed to be used as a plugin inside the game but with the desire of being its own web with more new features.

GPU Explorers

This round we had two releases of new GPU explorers for Dark Forest, this is something new since before we only were able to use our CPU to explore the universe without the software to make our GPU’s do the same, let’s make a brief summary of both:

Long Rock Labs — CPU & GPU Explorer

GPU Explorer in-game

This CPU & GPU Explorer is built by @ceccon_me and is the first one released, it is announced by Long Rock Labs in their web page https://www.longrocklabs.com/articles/the-exploration-era-begins/.

Some tests showed that their CPU & GPU explorers had more efficiency and performance that the mains used by the community, I’m not that technical to explain more about that so you can go to the click above and check all the technical info for who is interested.

Marrow DAO — GPU Explorer

This GPU Explorer is developed and maintained by @YUNYANDENG and announced by @marrowdao, the same guild that announced the DarkSea Market.

If you want to give it a look and go check the technical stuff you can see their announcement https://twitter.com/marrowdao/status/1429095980528455680 and their github repository https://github.com/guild-w/df-explorer.

Competition

This round we had more PvP than the last rounds and was so interesting to see the last days of the round with all players fought for the center territories.

The first one that reached the center was @orden_gg with a long shot of 267.000 of distance in the early days, he was very fast to capture all territories around the center and prepare their defenses for the enemies coming the next days, he and the allies of the guild defended the territories from other players doing a pretty good job.

From the @d_fdao that saw that without a coalition of players was impossible to dethrone orden_gg, organizated a plan called “The Intergalactic Yolo” to unite players to attack the center and get positioned in the ranking, doing one of the biggest sieges of Dark Forest.

Siege map made by 0x000

To this plan some players of the chinese community that at first were neutral or had their respectives alliances decided to collaborate despite the language barrier that existed between the two communities.

The result of this big war ended being the final nuclear bomb that is shown at the start of the article, with a lot of snipes in the last minutes trying to claim one of the center planets to obtain a good position in the leaderboard.

Other

This round +2500 players joined the round and +960 players got ranked for the next round, from the 1900 players that joined the round 2 and 800 ranked to this round.

As always, probably I’m missing something so forgive me if I forgot to put something important, each round a lot of new projects are made by the community and is amazing to see the speed that the people work building on the top of Dark Forest.

Thanks to all the community for always being helpful, helping each others to build new tools and trying to ask any questions to new players in the community. ❤
